The remake should enhance the dancing. The original Suspiria is, in this inspired choice, set in a ballet academy. But the characters barely dance! I would love to see this new director get inside the head of dancers and further incorporate movement, choreography, etc. into the story. I agree with Argento that this new film shouldn't have the same title as Suspiria. It should be like in a museum when paintings by different artists are hung in a room together because they have the same subject matter. I think there's a good chance Guadagnino doesn't take the title (although why buy the rights, then?). He's done this before with A Bigger Splash, which is a remake of La Piscine with a different title and rejiggered character backgrounds. All in all, I'm optimistic it could be a success. Luca's so talented. If he breaths a similarly operatic life into that he gave I Am Love, it could really work.

I still think this could, in theory anyway, work (and I write that having enjoyed the original more than most).

Although as I've thought about it since, I think I'm more curious about how it could be with better actors. At this point if it doesn't begin shooting (again) then it seems more likely that it'll get finished on a lower budget than even the original and shoved out on the straight-to-video circuit.
