Interesting that you found the theme of Matt\'s Catholicism unexplored, Dave, because I find it\'s one of the stronger currents in the season. His conversations with the priest come full circle and are nicely spread out through the 13 episodes, his quips about Catholicism to Claire, questioning Karen if she\'s religious, and Fisk\'s own atheism etc. all do a good job, I find, in signifying that Matt\'s Catholicism is one of the major elements of the Daredevil origin.

As far as superhero TV show goes, this show succeeds more than the others that are out there now (Gotham, Arrow, The Flash). It stays true to the mostly teenage fanbase, impressing them no doubt with the flashy violence (well choreographed for television) and dark tone, while courting the nostalgia crowd who read Daredevil in its Miller days. The show keeps Daredevil a working class story, thus avoiding a lot of the overreach of the other superhero shows. There are of course, many cringeworthy moments in Daredevil (such as the occasional nod to Murdoch\'s Catholicism, which is otherwise left unexplored thematically), but overall there is enough glossiness that the willing participant can ignore the awkwardness, which is more than you can say about the other superhero shows.

I was shocked at how bad the show was. All the reviews I have read are so positive, including this one, but I thought the series was quite bad. The dialog is just horrible, and every time Foggy was on screen what little momentum that may have been going on grinds to a halt. The best character of the show was Rosario Dawsons\', but she disappears after a couple episodes. Also, it felt less like a series and more like a movie that was padded all to hell with a lot of unnecessary flashbacks and all kind of other crap. And what the hell happened to Scott Glen and the bald little kid?

I\'ma few episodes in so far and I\'m impressed. It does feel like a different tone for superheroics -- lower stakes in some ways (the goal of episode 2 is "save a kid" as opposed to the Avengers having to save the world), but more believable and more emotionally engaging for it. So far, so good.

Thank you for this, there\'s been a smattering of negative opinion out there, and it\'s wonderful to see appreciation for the slow build and subtelty that exist in this show. It\'s a different animal to be sure, but to this old Daredevil fan who grabbed issue #158 off the spinner like so many people in 1979, it\'s an absolute joy to behold. I had set SO many obstacles in the path of this adaptation, and it completely sated and exceeded all of them. I adore the tiny things in Cox\'s performance, not least is his maintenance of Matts charade, which must be exhausting playing blind man who sees so much more.

If this is the start of the "Marvel Knights" or "Marvel Max" universe then kudos on setting the tone, but please, I be of you, let all roads lead not just to defenders, but to the man Frank Castle, and the materpiece that was the Ennis stories. Surely nothing else would lend itself story arc to season as this would comic to TV?
