Yeah, the price hike was over-hyped. At some point they were going to have to raise their prices, it was inevitable, they just did it a little too out of the blue.

But the Qwikster thing really made me angry and I figured I was going to have to go to just DVD-by-mail or else, more likely, drop it altogether. The idea that this was in any way serving the customer was ridiculous. The whole point of Netflix to most of us is the single website with everything in front of us, the value of the queue, planning what we want to watch far out ahead, and being able to choose between streaming and mail-order. Qwikster was going to completely destroy all of that, and Netflix would have sank within a year.

So yes, if they keep their old system, I will stick with them.

I thought the complaint about the price hike was misguided. I used to have the 3-DVD at a time plan, and paid 18 dollars a month. When streaming became so strong, I switched to 1 DVD and paid only ten dollars a month. I was consuming as much content as before, but paying almost half. So, the price hike is not a big deal and, considering the fact that people have dropped their cable for Netlix, still cheaper.

The Qwikster thing really bothered me though. The beauty of Netflix as it currently exists is that I can just search once and take care of my desire to see the film, in either format. Qwikster would have forced me to go rate a movie on both sites, search for its availability on both sites, etc. What a disaster. I am glad they listened.
