A ferocious and bleak work of prose that will find it's audience ,though making it an effective work will require a cast of actors that will take some finding .
The player of the judge will be the make or break of this movie and I concur with the choice of Day lewis or perhaps Russell Crowe ,maybe michael
Shannon too ,I don't see many out there with the gravitas and intensity of performance .

Anyone who attempts to make this book into a movie is setting themselves up to fail. It positively cannot be done. Period. Plain and simple. No one will EVER be able to convey the themes from the page into an image, because everyone will only concentrate on the violence. Because that is how people are. Even the most attuned cinephiles will not understand the meaning of the violence. They won't understand it. All they will "see" are dead babies hanging from a tree… This movie is just one of those rareities that truly cannot be done. By anyone.

Hollywood is making Blood Meridian with Adam Sandler as The Judge and Chris Rock as a new character, for comedic value, and Kate Upton as a love interest and a happy, decisive ending, and George Cloony will gain 100 lbs to play Tobin and Matt Damon will lose 100 lbs to play the kid and they will all co-produce and give themselves Academy Awards and don't forget the Blood Meridian Happy Meal …

Scott already managed to somehow mess up McCarthy's first written for the screen narrative, so yeah, best not to let him also mess up McCarthy's best novel. Scott is always all style and no substance, so when I heard he was directing it I knew from the start it was doomed to fail.

One of these guys below I wouldn't mind directing the BM adaptation:
