Sounds like a perfect medium for Portland. If she goes for it I will read the book. I think she is a great actress.

Enough already! I'm not buying it. I know this project is probably nothing special but people really need to stop offering Portman movie roles, she's much more suited for an NBC sitcom like Up All Night or something. Don't perpetuate the myth that she has any actual talent in the acting department, because she so clearly does not. This is coming from a once very loyal fan (I was in my teens, don't bite my head off), so, yeah… It kinda pains me to say that she's terrible, but she is. Black Swan only made it obvious, and her Oscar "win" nearly drove me nuts.

I read the book last year – and it definitely is dark. The only role appropriate for Portman would be the coach, who has a sort of "Jean Brodie"-ish influence over all the cheerleaders (and, ultimately, gets a little too involved in some of their lives. Or they in hers. It's hard to say more without spoilers! The narrator of the book is Addy, one of the cheerleaders, but the coach looms large.

Seriously, can a woman not get hired to direct anything? Even female fight club goes to some hack dude that has way too much on his plate anyway ….
