Poor Chastain clearly doesn\’t know what she\’s talking about. Streep has been in less than 50 films (not counting cameos and voice work) in her 37 yrs carrer which had very few stops. She just choses to work very little compared to other actresses. Susan Sarandon has made more than 150 movies and as many as Streep in just the last 10 yrs when she\’s been over 55 (now I think she\’s 67/68). Also Mirren has worked much more than Streep and Streep\’s movies have not won anything since the 80\’S so I don\’t think she "stole" many great parts. Maybe it\’s her who makes them great and talked about (The Iron Lady, e.g.), but that\’s another story.

Chastain didn\’t say she wants to see the few quality parts in films for older actresses spread out more evenly. She said she wants MORE quality parts in films to be available to actresses! Streep has said the same thing. Please don\’t go all tabloid over her remarks.
