This masterpiece exposes the Christian God for what he is. Deceitful, petulant, narcissistic, bi-polar and indifferent towards women or their feelings. He can always just make another Earth, and it's Mother to abuse. Best movie of the year. Aronofsky is relentless with his ballsy creation. 10/10 http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/35095/mother-3/

Although Aronofsky is an atheist, he is largely critical of Christianity, and uses the absurdity of religion here to mock the believers who follow it to an inevitable conclusion of apocalyptic mayhem.

Red Desert does sound interesting though. I'll have to check it out.

There are movies where women are destroyed to reveal the cruel divide, as in The Birds: Where the mother is completely misunderstood by her children and her son's suitors until the actual is revealed by the recovery bed scene. And then there are movies where women are destroyed and we have zero insight into her depth (that's this film). I was given a ticket to see this and attended with three Italian women friends who were sure the film was simply torture porn by an insecure religious fanatic trying to spin it into an environmental metaphor.

Amazing a woman could see this and fawn over it. Stockholm syndrome much, Kiang?
