Wasn't Bangkok Dangerous a 2008 movie? I expected a decent film, but what we got was the most awful drivel, like they just thought 'Hey, let's make a film in Bangkok!' and then had no idea what to make it about.
To round it all off there was Nick's character falling for a blind Boots assistant, FFS. Anyway, another film about Bangkok and Thailand that falls woefully short. Are these made by Thais? It's the only explanation I have as to why they are crap.

Great post, though I often disagree with you guys. I really enjoyed both Rachel Getting Married (saw it twice) and Pineapple Express. Just so you know though, in the post it says that Will Smith produced Foot Fist Way, which I somehow don’t think is true.

Oh, and Jonathan Demme also directed the Talking Heads concert, Stop Making Sense, which everyone seems to adore.

It’s funny how certain films get more respected over time. I rewatched the Siskel and Ebert reviews of both Silence of the Lambs and Unforgiven, and neither of them liked either. Granted Ebert did say Anthony Hopkins was good and did recommend it for that alone, but still had his reservations. And then both films end up in his 4 star movies book. What a sheep.

I agree with Choke, Be Kind Rewind, and Pineapple Express…and I’ll add Tropic Thunder to the list and even Indiana Jones, simply because I really did hope they could pull it off. That one will easily top the worst films of the year list (that I saw that is) as well.

I don’t hate it, but i see it on a lot of all-time lists and i could probably think of 200-300 films i like better.

I like the Silence of the Lambs a lot, but I also think it suffers a bit when you watch it now from being copied by almost every serial killer film made since. It’s hard to see anything in it as fresh nowadays. I mostly enjoy it for the Buffalo Bill parts…I could take or leave any of the Hannibal Lecter stuff.

I'm gonna go off on a bit of a tangent but something has been bothering me lately…I haven't seen Rachel Getting Married yet, but am I wrong in thinking that Jonathan Demme's only great film is Silence of the Lambs? He's made several good films (Something Wild, Philadelphia) a few okay movies (Married to the Mob, Manchurian Candidate, and a few terrible ones (the Charade remake and Beloved), but I find he's generally rather overrated as a filmmaker. PT Anderson is one of my favorite filmmakers, and I know he's Demme's number one fan, but I just don't really see what's so special about Demme's films. Granted I've never seen PT's favorite, Melvin & Howard…maybe that one's the key?
