His soul-on-his-sleeve acting approach is riveting to every pair of eyes glued on his ravaged visage. The man has lived a hard life, but his heart is as big as the world.

Mickey deserves an Oscar, but more importantly the respect of his peers and movie fans worldwide. BRAVO to Mickey, who has patiently waited for this kind of opportunity. Lady Luck came through, and man-o-man is his performance a doozy. I love you Mickey and couldn’t be happier for you. Alas, as an aside, check out his performances in “The Pope of Greenwich Village” and “Year of the Dragon.”

Going back and watching his early work, it’s tragic how much time he wasted destroying himself and his career. I would love to see him get an Oscar to put a happy ending on this story. Also, Aronofsky is apparently kind of a bad ass. God knows I wouldn’t talk to Mickey Rourke that way.
