She's exactly right. Why should she 'stretch' (into Ice Cube family comedy girlfriend mode)? It's more interesting to see her repurpose and tweak her image the way a star in Old Hollywood did, then to have to suffer through a rote, uninteresting but 'different' role.
It would have been cool to see her and Sigourney wake up together in Avatar somehow. Sequel…sequel…
