What a missed opportunity. It surprised me they weren’t embarrassed to put out a show this badly made. Two dimensional, dull characters. Every minute, every arc is predictable. Very poor writing. Not dramatic, suspenseful or funny. I was enjoying the scenes in Pop’s shop (Frankie Faison was so good I forgot all about Burrell), and Rosario Dawson played her character very well, and Cage’s interactions with people one-on-one, but that’s about it. It was at its worst with the villain scenes.. it turned into a soap opera. Such a shame.

Personallly I think the show has been too muted in it’s attempts at being a Blaxploitation throwback, or a vibrant superhero show. Or even an exploration of Harlem culture. It devolves into the superhero stuff we’ve seen before too many times. I’m enjoying it so far, but I’ve felt the same way about most of the Netflix-Marvel shows.
