Mark Wahlberg can keep dreaming. Just like how he was dreaming that Scorsese would direct his "The Gambler" remake & when he said Scorsese was going to direct "The Departed 2 & 3" where Wahlberg\’s Srgt. Dignam went after a corrupt politician played by Robert DeNiro.
He\’s doing what a producer does, he talks a big game to get attention.
Scorsese has been pretty open that at his ages he\’s no longer going to do projects "for them". All his remaining movies from Hugo on have been movies he\’s wanted to do for years.
Aside from the documentaries & pilot episodes of new HBO shows I see Scorsese\’s theatrical career for the next decade (possibly his final as a professional filmmaker) will follow the path of Silence to The Irishman to Sinatra to a small personal project.

Look, this is not happening. All the money in the world won\’t matter. Scorsese has waaaaay better things to do with his time. As does Terence Winter who is doing a new show (with Scorsese). Wahlberg is dreaming. The story was told, a prequel was told. What story could you possibly tell? There\’s the 7 year gap in time and if you tried to tell that you wouldn\’t have a movie, you\’d have another episode. It won\’t happen and every creative involved aside from Wahlberg would tell you as much.

absolutely. the jump in time really hurt the pathos of the final season. so much was glossed over with simply a throwaway bit of dialog intimating such – rothstein\’s demise, ness, luciano\’s rise, white\’s whereabouts pre-chan gang, etc. i enjoyed the final season, but it could have had more oomph if there had been either a film bridging the gap or an actual season.

Would love to see a Boardwalk Empire movie. The jump from season four to five left so much cool stuff unshown – Capone taking over Chicago, Lucky\’s rise, Rothstein\’s decline, J Edgar Hoover\’s early career. Would liked to have seen more of Bugsy too and Kennedy and Ness. Nucky obviously. More van Alden. Thought the actors all gave definitive performances of many of the historical figures. Best portrayal of twenties gangsterism and corruption since Once Upon a Time in America. All anchored by Buscemi\’s fascinating Nucky. Really hope they make a film.
