Given that all the news reports are giving away the story, hopefully Garland takes a different approach than the book, which goes on a good 200 pages before the characters figure out the secret.

I like all of Garland’s films (28 Days Later, Sunshine and yes, even The Beach) as they are all dark. And nothing gets much darker than Romenek’s NIN’s Closer video, so hopefully this will be in the same vein, and nothing like other films such as The Island.

This film is based on the novel Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro. It came out in 2005. As far as sci-fi elements go, the story is about a human experiment. The environment is “ordinary”.
