Superman going rogue is only a marginal possibility and even a rogue Superman, in any comic or film version favors subjugation over death. No rogue version of Superman is responsible for mass murder. In fact, his desire to eliminate such suffering is what inspired his rogue ambitions, however misguided they were. The truth though is that the Joker still lives because DC has to sell Batman comics. I first read Batman golden age stories when I was 9 years old when I bought The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told book. The art and feel of those stories grabbed me more than the modern ones. It is as arcane as a 1940s Looney Tunes cartoon. In other words, it’s not arcane. You speak in gross exaggerations. Right, well, nobody said Batman has never killed. It’s right there in the article, Conroy says personally what he loves about his run with the character is that he doesn’t kill. So, you can cite whatever arcane examples you want, that characterization is in keeping with the general portrayal of the Batman. He doesn’t have to go back to some distant obscure run of the Batman mythos to cite an example of Batman killing, he uses the movie that came out in March. I love seeing arrogant fanboys pretense at knowing a character better than an artist who has portrayed the character for decades.

All you have to do is read the original 1940s Batman golden age stories to see him killing people. And those stories were made by the actual creators or Batman.
