It seemed like they were trying to replicate Pirates of the Caribbean: cowboys for pirates, Native American lore for seafaring myth, and Armie Hammer for Orlando Bloom, and Depp remaining as the #2 who steals the show.

I can see not wanting to invest that kind of coin but if they are trying to launch another billion dollar franchise, it ain\’t gonna be cheap (especially if they are using more established box office stars; Depp\’s salary for the first POTC was probably 20% of what he\’s making on this.)
