So I guess the days of waiting for the Super Bowl to be over and then scouring the internet for the film spots are done. Earlier today we dropped the Sunday spot for “Shutter Island,” and now the big game clip for M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender” has hit the web.
We’ve been fairly low-key on this movie, largely because it seems like a generic, CGI action orgy for kids. That said, the clip isn’t half bad, as far as these kinds of films go. But then again, aside from your standard “you are the last hope for mankind” voiceover, there is no dialogue, which besides the ludicrous plot, was a major dealbreaker in Shyamalan’s embarrassing “The Happening.”
“The Last Airbender” opens on July 2nd and seems to be one of the few tentpoles not in 3D this summer.
