Always glad when someone agrees with my unpopular opinion about popular movies. While I definitely enjoyed the first hour, the outrageous baddie and frankly motivationless mayhem he causes (along with the kinda repetitive-feeling character attrition) made everything after Daegu (and even, really, after the army attacks them in Daejeon) pretty boring.

The movie needs, and sorely lacks heart? Maybe it’s the reviewer who’s lacking something. How could you not be won over completely by and feel for the little girl. Oh her father trying to be a father to her. Or the man and his pregnant wife. Or the two sisters. I can’t imagine the movie having any more heart – it would explode.

In reply to brian. Because the masses are asses. This movie was sappy, soapy, cliched and not even remotely as good as it could have been. Not every korean director is Chan Wook Park or Kim Ki Duk. Many of them lack the complexity, the profound factor of cinema. This one is for Michael Bay types, not for those wanting more.

Yes, for the film to be of great enjoyment and with cinematic value, it must “clearly lay out the geography of the train, while ensuring each battle on the way to the front was distinctive.” No. It doesn’t. The film’s merits lie elsewhere. Despite its “threadbare plot and lack of aesthetic inspiration”, which I am glad incidentally for not looking as cartoonish as Snowpiercer, the creative team behind this had definitely managed to meld all the conventional zombie tropes together at the right proportion to create a scary movie with a heart, (the kind the writer is expecting is beyond me) and that hit the jackpot with the universal audience.

Not sure why are people buying on this movie. I saw the first zombie scene and it already violates anatomy and physiology. Now I don’t think I’ll enjoy this.

this movie was very enjoyable and with lots of heart. im not sure what this reviewer is thinking when he saw this. Its seems to me he had a negative agenda to start with. this movie is geting buzz all around the world, and its a foreign film. if it was not good, why would audiences go see it after word of mouth.
