I watched the film yesterday and I went to see it because I am keen on European cinema and because it won a prize at Berlin Film Festival. I became disinterested in the film after the first half, I couldn’t take any more the close-up takes. Too many close-ups which do not reveal much of the psychological turmoil, e.g. the 1o minutes close-ups of the heated discussion between Cornelia and her son's girfriend Carmen. The drama doesn’t reach the spectator and the scenography and the costumes do not contribute much to the dramatical aim. Everything seems ready-made for a premeditated successful film although the outcome is poor. However, the performance of the leading actress is applaudable and she made me stay in the cinema and endure it to the end.
