As for the cast… having had a tragic alcoholic father who died when I was a young girl I found Colin Farrell so completely authentic as the hopelessly lost and broken alcoholic father in his performance in Saving Mr. Banks that he brought tears to my eyes. Taylor Kitsch is one of the great young actors of his generation. The profound empathy and deep soulful sadness of his expression in the scene as he photographed the child in South Africa being stalked by the vulture in The Bang Bang Club was unforgettable. As was his entire gut-wrenching performance in The Normal Heart. I found myself leaning forward, completely immersed in the action of his pain. Not just any actors can find the place within themselves that CF and TK do. Furthermore… comedians like Vince Vaughn can be the darkest villains. Having the most critical perception of the bleak irony and truth of life is where their humor comes from. Rachel McAdams has sparkle and charisma… but can she reach the gritty depths that we already know Elisabeth Moss can reach? We'll see. Looking forward to finding out.
