Got a Tip?

Judd Apatow: Still Not Producing ‘Ghostbusters III,’ Says Diddy Plays Hilarious Record Label Producer In ‘Greek’

The L.A. Times spoke to Columbia chief Doug Belgrad a few months ago and confirmed Judd Apatow is not producing the planned “Ghostbusters III,” film. Still, uninformed media reports persist.

It’s probably not the first time it’s come directly from his mouth, but the first time we’ve seen it. Apatow, who spoke to Vulture, re-confirmed (for those not paying attention) that he’s not producing the picture. So, where did those rumors come from?

“I think because I am one of the producers of ‘Year One,’ which is a Harold Ramis [biblical comedy] that he wrote and directed that comes out in June,” Apatow said, shrewdly promoting the film in his answer. “So somewhere, somebody, I don’t know, just typed wrong.”

Would he even consider producing “Ghostbusters 3”? He responds with a semi-serious/semi-jokey answer: “I’m not one of the people who makes those movies… Obviously, I’d consider anything!”

Apatow also described rapper-mogul Diddy’s role in the upcoming Russell Brand vehicle, “Get Him To The Greek,” about a off-the-wagon rockstar on the loose, which was once described as a more dirty and comical version of Cameron Crowe’s “Almost Famous.”

“He’s playing the owner of a record company. And he’s funny enough that it’s bothersome. You want to feel like you’re better than Diddy at something, but then when he’s super funny. You’re like, ‘Okay, he defeats me in all areas of life.’ “

Lastly, apparently what almost earned “Year One” an R-Rating is a filthy joke he only half described. “There was a joke about a certain character who could put a part of his anatomy in his own mouth. I don’t think you can say that online. It’s not one of the main characters. We removed that. It was definitely one of our favorite jokes,” he said.

DVD anyone??
