Last night I caught “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man” on TV, a movie universally accepted as crap, but felt like a classic compared to the synthetic nonsense we have now. Everything is a digital 2 hour and a half cgi music video. There is something lost in popular media that I don’t think we are ever going to get back and it’s sad. Damn you all.

I do concede however that I should have checked my facts before stating that last year’s attack on a gay nightclub was in Miami rather than Orlando. It’s not an excuse but I am not American, so I’m more inclined to make such geographical mistakes with respect to the US and thus confuse two major Florida cities. I was however more concerned by the overall thrust of my argument and the details, although important, don’t really change the validity of my point.

As for your final, and most important statement, I stand by what I posted concerning the way Trump used the homophobic Orlando attack, by a lone and very messed up individual, to demonise the entire Islamic community whilst hypocritically appointing non-Muslim homophobes, like Mike Pence and his proposed ambassador to The Netherlands, Pete Hoekstra, to important positions. Any President seeking to ban transsexuals from the military for the most petty and vague of reasons is no champion of the LGBT community. Moreover, not all Muslims, certainly in my experience, are homophobic bigots, and it’s disgusting that Trump should seek to hypocritically tarnish progressive Muslims with his own sins (including homophobia and misogyny).

Christian: Like Whedon, you are a progressive extremist, but you well have formed coherent thoughts, though a few with out any facts to support them, you articulate them in a deliberative way, not so in Whedon’s screeds. Others here have tried to defend his hysteria with he is just a director. His extremist ideology seeped into the last and worst season of Agents of Shield. This formerly admirable man of humor, ingenuity and intellect, needs an intervention. Finally, the horrible shootings were in Orlando, not Miami.

By the way, I’m a staunch liberal. I’m frankly sickened by Trump’s decision to ban transgender individuals from military service and his proposed appointment of a homophobe as ambassador to The Netherlands (to cite two of his most questionable recent decisions). It just goes to show that Trump was talking BS when he said he’d be on the side of the LGBT community and his crocodile tears over last year’s Miami terrorist attsck on a gay club was entirely about demonizing Muslims and pitting the LGBT community against the Muslim community rather than any sincere sympathy for gay people. I likewise feel absolutely the same way about Trump and his right-wing job’s daily assault on women’s rights, Muslims, Mexicans, the BAME community, science, the environment and the poor (many of whom sadly voted for him out of desperation).

But, Whedon’s juvenile and inflammatory Twitter attacks are barely more grown-up and well thought-out than those of the target of his ire. Attacking moderates and using sophomoric imagery will only alienate the types of voters the Democratic Party needs in order to win the midterms and oust Trump in 2020, assuming he isn’t impeached before then.

I’m sorry, but Whedon is a moron, and just because I happen to share many of his political views doesn’t mean I can’t be objective and rational in pointing out how unhelpful and destructive his like are to the progressive cause (see also Madonna talking about blowing up the White House and Kathy Griffin effectively encouraging people to decapitate a man, who lest one forget, has an 11-year-old son). Do a google search and check out his comments regarding Paul Ryan being attacked by a rhino and worse his Tweet in which he compared Nicole Kidman, who is incidentally appearing in the DCEU and is in fact a liberal, to a Thunderbird puppet simply for refusing to say something nasty about Trump on the eve of his inauguration.

I’m a liberal and I totally agree. One can express one’s beliefs without personal attacks and evoking violence, something the privileged Whedon (the son and grandson of Hollywood screenwriters) seems fundamentally incapable of doing. Plus, his supposed and much-hyped ‘feminism’ is a crock…no feminist attacks a woman’s physical appearance simply because she refused to say nasty things about a politician one dislikes.
