Elba has the opportunity to do a lot of truly groundbreaking things. It ruins the magic to hear that he doesn\’t have the same feels about Heimdall that the fans do…you get the feeling that the others Marvel has cast really embody a part of their characters.

Also, I think most of the rest of the cast understand that them being exposed in a Marvel movie gives them the chance to develop and get financing for more art oriented films ("Under the Skin"), directorial debuts ("Before We Go") and passion projects ("The Judge" and "I Saw the Light").

It kind of cracks me up when people are shocked that Marvel players may not be the biggest comic book fans at all. I\’m sure there are quite a few Marvel actors who are there simply becuase Marvel is the biggest dog in Hollywood today. Every agent in their right mind are sending their clients to Marvel and whether they actually care about comic books has nothing to do with it.

I think its funny when actors complain about doing studio films and big up the smaller pictures because.Most of the actors doing the complaining aren\’t all that great to begin with as far as training is concerned .I like idris hes a good actor looking forward to seeing more of his work and see him progress but .He\’s not a great actor either he\’s average .

I\’m a big Elba fan.. but this does rub me the wrong way.. Sounds a bit self-important here, when this movie is the cumulative work of as Whedon said, countless people, who work hard to create entertainment.. belittling that doesnt make him look any better of an actor.

Why is everyone surprised or offended when they find out actors aren\’t quiet as riveted by playing flat marvel characters as the fans are? Same happened with Hugo weaving.
All idris did was share his experience and feelings. They happen to be something he didn\’t enjoy. That\’s it. He doesn\’t owe you any enthusiasm.

I loved Idris in "Luther" and still love him as Heimdall, I just hope he realizes it\’s really about give and take. Sure, it may \’seem\’ to him like taking a step down to do a sci-fi film like Thor, but it facilitates his bank account to do the \’smaller, \’important\’ roles\’ like Mandela. Sounds like someone has gotten a tad bit spoiled? He shouldn\’t be scolded like a child, he\’s a grown man for heaven\’s sake, but I do so hope he changes his attitude before Marvel rethinks his future in their films because of this.

Ungrateful little man. Mandela, if he is so fascinated by him, would never speak that way, he would take into consideration all the people working on the project and not speak such sh*t about their work, which most probably love. I for one would love to be playing his part because I love comics as do most people as we can see since they are with sci fi by far the most popular genre.
