Whedon is both being sarcastic AND against the reboot, as he stated in other interviews the first time this story cropped up a few months back. He\’s just smart enough to not want to come off like a hypocrite, as well as knowing that the vast majority of fans do not want this.

Swing by any of the non-\”fanboy\” sites and read some comments… Deadline had nearly 100 comments posted on this topic as of early this morning, with only a few (10 or fewer) stating any support for this project and all of those with reservations involving the lack of involvement from Whedon.

Yesterday I was amazed at all the fanboys completely missing the sarcasm in Joss\’s statement. Today I\’m more amazed that the usually on the ball Playlist seemingly missed it as well.

While I think Joss Whedon is clearly a little miffed about a Whedonless Buffy in the offing, I think you\’re misrepresenting his position a bit by only quoting this: “a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths.”

This is clearly a tongue-in-cheek exaggeration (of perhaps a real sentiment) that Whedon immediately and deliberately undercuts by acknowledging his role in the Avengers movie.

To be fair (to you), you do provide the entire quote, so people who click through will get the proper context.
