Whedon's sensibilities are suited to television, not cinema. Watching Serenity was like watching a TV movie.

Unless Marvel is truly willing to give Joss creative control, this is not a good fit. Joss is not his best when trying to keep happy studio suits who want to pander to the lowest common denominator.

J. Whedon, although having only directed Serenity in the big screen, has had many, many (MANY), years of work in the directorial and scripting seat from Buffy, to Angel, to Firefly, to Dr. Horrible, etc. etc.

there is a strong cult following to J. Whedon, and he's the type of director that will engulf himself into the material to make sure they are as encompassing as it can be.

but on that note, he's generally more known for his own creations, and aside from Astonishing X-men and Runaways, he doesn't dabble in too many works of other people.

I think J. Whedon is an amazing and unique mind, and i trust him with his hands on Avengers.

I'm not really a huge fan of the Marvel universe, but I'm very interested in the Avenger's film. Interesting to see what Joss can bring to the table.
