The original cut was probably 40% different across the board. They soft 'fired' him, soft 'hired' alternate director to come in a reshoot approx 40% of scenes; then they re-wrote the story arc/script and changed the story with the 2nd director. Meaning, Star Wars Rogue One is basically Halloween 6.

I thought it was at best, 6/10 stars. Yes, dramatically superior to episodes 1, 2, 3; but the story wasn't coherent and the character development was shit.

I gave SW7 probably a 7.5/10, at best; but I did think it had a coherent story and decent character development.

Rogue One was a pure cash grab by Disney. A "hack" film, enjoyed by lay public who LOVE any female lead protag film they can come across, no matter what. I didn't have any issue w/ the female protag - she was very good; but I didn't care about her character in the least.

I would be very interested to see what the director's original cut looked like. But I have to say, the theatrical version was not unacceptable. I agree that Forrest Whittaker seemed wasted in this role, but didn't have a problem with Mads Mik.

Or maybe I was just so excited to see a coherent Star Wars film after the swiss cheese plot of the JJ not-remake/remake.

Which is a terrible sign this film will be filled with shit writing and relentless cameo's just like Rogue One (which would have probably been an acceptable film if the studio hadn't gorged the director's vision). Forrest Whittaker and Mads Mik were absolutely cringe-worthy additions to that film because they served absolutely no valuable purpose to the story or plot. They were unnecessary distractions which only degraded the product. Used completely wrong.

I love JGL. If he shows up wearing a cloak and says two or three stupid lines then dies - it's a fucking mistake.
