12. Freedomâs Call (6:06)

Ok so I was hoping that this would be great psychological look into the mind and genius of possibly the most mentally anguished President in US History, but this track alone has proven to me that this will be nothing but Spielberg cheese. I'm half expecting the delegates listening to Lincoln's speeches to say"Common honest Abe, push it through…we're all behind you!" ala War Horse. So much for a strong complex Spielberg film, I guess the only one in the last ten years will be Munich after all.

Spielberg there are other composers out there. I feel like William's only has a career because Steven keeps him in buisness.

In the grand scheme of cinematic history (you know, before The Dark Knight or The Avengers or whatever new blockbuster the kids are getting their first boners all over) yes, John Williams is the greatest film composer in history.

Star Wars. Indiana Jones. Jurassic Park. Jaws. The main Harry Potter theme. Early Oliver Stone. Schindler's List. Superman. Poseidon Adventure. Etc. Etc.
So he may not be at the top of his game in his 80s? He is going to have a longer lasting impression than surely any other composer in history.

Kushner's a good writer but it's doubtful this will be better than the 1988 miniseries "Lincoln" based on the Gore Vidal book, that had such a deep, un-romanticized portrait of Abe. Of course Spielberg will top it in scope, but "Team Of Rivals" was just pop history, nothing particularly edgy.
