Carnahan sounded perfect for this. Daredevil stories are always dark and gritty (except for Mark Waid's newest run, but the movie isn't going to be based on that so who cares). Outside of Batman we haven't seen a really tough urban crime-film superhero, and Daredevil is plenty different from Batman's gothic-epic style to be and feel unique and attract new viewers. Disappointing.

Tom Rothman and co. saying no to what sounds like a genuinely original and interesting idea? You don't say? Sarcasim and Fox bashing aside I do hope this happens. Carnahan is a great fit for the character and seems like he could actually put a unique spin on the character. If the rights revert back to Marvel chances are they'd make it fit into their bland, whitewashed cinematic universe just so they can pitch their next movie with a ten second cameo.

It's pretty obvious what the problem with Fox is. They want this to be a franchise and it must be teen friendly! That's where the money lies. Anyone wanting to make a Daredevil not teen friendly will get shot down in flames ala Carnahan. Shame. Fox just don't have a fucking clue! May as well give the movie to Michael Bay to direct since it'll be a fuck-up anyway no matter what.
