JP is 36 years old, turning 37 later this year. Not much of a difference. It\’s not really an age thing as PTA was going to up the character age for Renner anyhow.

To really put in the divide between a master and servant though — and having read that script — i think it would be better for him to stick to a younger person who the audience would buy as more impressionable. I kept thinking of Paul Dano.

Well, I didn\’t read any drafts of the script but I wouldn\’t say Joaquin Phoenix looks more like a 25-year-old than Renner does. But I\’m assuming Paul would make the character older either way, no problem.
Both movies sound great, then again I think everything PTA does is amazing so I\’m also biased. Read Inherent Vice recently and was impossible to imagine anyone but Downey playing Doc so hope that happens
