Remember when everyone was excited about a Veronica Mars movie just because Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell said they wanted to do it? No, it's not that simple. Warner Bros. had to green light money for the damn thing, and they didn't. An even bigger example: The Hobbit. How many non-news stories came out about the film's supposed release date before Peter Jackson just recently had to remind everybody that there wasn't even a budget yet?

That said, I wouldn't hop on David Cross's It's-not-gonna-happen bandwagon quite yet. The reason being, the guy is the most negative a-hole on the planet. Hilarious? Often, yes. But a whiny prick.

The facts are that Fox HAS commissioned a script from Mitch Hurwitz, and most of the cast WOULD be happy to do it. Those are two big pieces of the puzzle, but it's a complicated puzzle. Not part of the puzzle? Speculation from former cast members.
