Wise words by Herzog. 3D is indeed meant to be a visual spectacle and as such both Avatar and Piranha have their place.

Personally, I found that the 'Piranha' conversion from 2D to 3D really made the movie funnier (therefore better) because it looked so cheap and fake, like many of the movies it was parodying, it was a rare occasion of 3D actually working. But that doesn't change the fact that watching 3D gives me (and others I know) a gigantic headache; Herzog is right about human eyes and brains not being able to handle the 3D technology.

Piranha was a terrible, a unforgivably hypocritical and misogynistic piece of boring garbage that was made that much worse by the mediocre 3D conversion that turned this trashy matinee picture into a $15 a ticket eyesore. Avatar was… significantly better. I don't agree with Cameron in principal that only certain-level films should be in 3D, but I'll give the win to the man who knows how to actually make 3D work in live-action. Until someone, anyone, can make a live-action picture that looks as good in 3D as Avatar did, Cameron gets to whine all he wants about others cheapening 3D technology.
