I think that Nick has it right: The Diana from the 80s was fairly dark. For instance, she beheaded Ares\' son. I think Gadot is going to be great, and I\'m really looking forward to this flick. I\'ve been waiting for a Wonder Woman practically my whole life.

I don\'t think it\'s the darkness of SvB that rubbed people the wrong way, it\'s the shittiness. Especially Snyder\'s disregard for the essence of the characters and his cluelessness regarding subtext. Both DC and Marvel comics through the ages have veered between light and heavy (with the freewheelin\' Spider-Man being the one to really usher in the more serious bronze age with the ambiguous death of Gwen Stacey), with fans only really caring about whether they were well done at any given moment. I think the same goes with films.

The Wonder Woman reboot books from the late 80s are pretty dark - and good. They hold up nearly 30 years later. Also the WW animated movie (written by the great Gail Simone) is pretty dark but quite good, too. So just because the Lynda Carter series was light doesn\'t mean the new movie has to be. I just hope they don\'t go overboard with the darkness. But Gal Gadot\'s charm will carry the movie if nothing else. I\'m looking forward to it.
