I really hope they get a US distributor during Cannes film market. It would make things go faster. Unless Malick wants to wait until the Untitled is also completed, so that both films are released within a few months next year…
Fremaux said in a THR interview that a movie may be added to the competition if it's ready. Maybe he was talking of KOC.

not exactly sure what to expect at this point…i kinda wanna put aj edwrads word above all (he confirmed that cups and untitled will see "screens" this year) seeing as he is an editor on the project, but there are too many variables as of right now. i guess the best i can hope for is that it makes venice/telluride/tiff and we get to see trailers start rolling out.

funny, the more i hear/read about this film, the less enthused i am for it. i hope malick keeps religion out of Knight of Cups and Untitled, as i found it to be the weakest aspect of both Tree of Life (the final act) and To the Wonder.

For the film to "come out next year" it's still likely it'll see festival release this year, being that Ms. Lucas could view this in a more pragmatic way in knowing that independent films can take their time from fest showing, distrib pick-up and eventual release.
