Top-secret death? Odds are it's Clark Gregg's Agent Caulson (identifiable from being in almost every Marvel movie & the human the superheroes can avenge), Renner's Hawkeye since he is not already announced for pending sequels, or the Maria Hill character.

Any post-credit scene would probably hint to the larger Marvel Universe or Avengers direct sequel instead of a solo movie like Iron Man 3 which will be shooting already.
