‘the reader’ isnt meant to be fluid and emotionally satiating. even more appropriately, it doesnt do the audience pleasing thing as letting the emotions “uncork”.

this is really an unusually done film in that respect. and makes a lot of sense if you see the film as a ‘retrospect’ from the character’s POV, trying to make sense of it all.
