I took another look at a few episodes of Dark Shadows this past week. It\'s amazing how well it holds up. I laughed many times -- but was not laughing down at it. By contrast, the movie was full of unlikable characters, the sets were gaudy, vulgar -- overall distasteful. If Burton had just kept his damn mouth shut criticizing other people for his failure, I might have forgotten this mess of a movie and continued to be a Burton fan. But I\'m a firm believer of shunning the wicked. So I won\'t support any more films of Burton or his ratty wife\'.

When the Tim Burton remake of "Dark Shadows" starring Johnny Depp was announced, several people in an online group said Burton and Depp would turn it into something ridiculous. (In my opinion ALL of Tim Burton\'s and Johnny Depp\'s movies are silly, but some actually like all the special effects and other tripe this desultory duo produce.) To make a long story short, as soon as I saw photos of Depp in his Michael Jackson getup, I knew Burton and Depp had staked "Dark Shadows." I\'ve seen a LOT of bad movies, but Burton\'s "Dark Shadows" is one of the absolute worst. However, I\'m sure Nicolas Cage is grateful to Burton and Depp because after six years, someone actually made a film worse than the 2006 remake of "The Wicker Man."

I totally agree with Victoria WInterz. What a cheap shot this was to the original cast who showed up on set to be in this "mess"terpiece. I loved a lot of your films, but this one I did not. This really speaks volumes, man. The original cast have never bad-mouthed your film, and always defended it so graciously at festivals and on social media when people were calling it for what it really was. This statement was such a low blow to them, and such a cheap shot, especially to Jonathan who was in no shape to fly there but agreed. Shame on you for making such a cheap shot to the ones who were so nice to you and took up for you, and encouraged the original fandom to come out and support you just so you can try and "save face"

And I should have proofread my comments...
willingness to "throw"
and
"take" a synopsis

Sorry for the goofs. Tim Burton, you are the reason for my mistakes!

Hmmm...Mr. Burton, I find your willingness to through the Dark Shadows television series under the proverbial bus quite disturbing. I highly doubt you found the "tone" of the show funny when you where just a mere boy. The fact of the matter is you hired a lousy writer. You would have done just as well to place a synopsis of Dark Shadows, place it in a blender, whirl it around a while, and make a movie of whatever pieces flew out of the blender. Your comments disappoint me. The Dark Shadows actors worked LIVE TAPE...no retakes or do overs...five days a week, every week. These actors deserve both your respect and praise. As for the cult fan base, perhaps you should have gotten some input from them. YOU were the problem with Dark Shadows, Mr. Burton. I was one fan who truly looked forward to seeing your interpretation of my favorite series on the big screen. I saw your movie on its opening night...you let yourself down. I am thankful Jonathan Frid never saw your despicable movie!
