I take great offense at this. Indy 4 is great, throwbacky 50s style sci-fi action film. It\'s amazing what ease he rags on things and people that inspired him. Pretty douchy.

Syndromes and a Century was lifechanging for me too. It was around that time that I realized movies (or good ones, at least) deal with more than just plot and character. Mood, cinematography, setting, formal structure, etc. Syndromes and a Century was different from any other film I had seen, but I loved it immediately (without entirely knowing why, even). It holds a special place in my heart that few other films do and few other films ever will.

Needless to say, Weerasethakul is one of my favorite working directors, and I\'m very happy to read an interview with him. He seems like such a great guy in addition to being a great artist. That comment at the end about the aliens is bizarre but hilarious in an understated way, which rather aptly reflects the humor of his films.
