I dunno who to side with here, regarding the Ryan Reynolds issue. Maybe those are the only types of movies he's offered. But every film he's done in the last decade had "bad idea" written all over it, with only minor exceptions.

The guy fucks Scarlett Johansson and, from what I hear, is a megamillionaire from crafty 90's era stock investments, so he doesn't really give a shit about being choosy, I'd wager. I don't know if playing second fiddle to Sandra Bullock is below him or not, but I'm sure there are better things he could be doing with his time.

"Why Reynolds, who can be a decent actor when he wants to be — see "Adventureland" for recent example — continues to take on cheap work like this is baffling other than the need for a paycheck, but we presume he's doing ok. He might be doing it for semi-personal reasons"

Or, perhaps doing a "standard-issue rom-com" is smart move for someone like Reynolds, whose appearances in movies like Adventureland have not done much to advance his visibility as an actor.

Reynolds, a good actor, is still far from a household name–he's a face, and that's a start, but everybody knows who Sandra Bullock is without seeing a picture and that kind of star power brings a lot more money and options of roles to play.

Let's hope Reynolds gets more and more opportunities to become an actor of that status so we can see him in more movies and more of his range as an actor.
