I give this film an A. I saw it at The Portland International Film Festival last February and i thought it was very good. A bit too brutal in some scenes but a moving film none the less. While some stars are looking for award attention ( Great example, Kate Winslet\’s unwatchable ego driven remake of \”Mildred Pierce\” on HBO) Rachel Weisz actually backs up her talents in spades with a multi layered look at a very imperfect woman. This could have been a puff piece like “Erin Brockovich,” but its not and that\’s mostly because it does not water down the film\’s brutal truths.

While i agree with the review, Rachel Weisz\’s performance alone does in fact save the film. Weisz powerful performance is true and heartbreaking. Plus its true with what a real female police officer goes through (I\’m retired from the police force, so i know a great representation) but the film is no where near as powerful as she is and while she is not on screen (And she is on screen often) You can see the film\’s problems.
