Just last week, Consolidated Pictures Group announced that the Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor gay romantic dramedy “I Love You Phillip Morris” was getting pulled from its previously scheduled April 30th release date, with no immediate plans to re-schedule the picture.
The news caused a minor stir, and CSG has now scheduled yet another new release date for the film, with a limited run beginning July 30th (most likely NY/LA) with more cities to be added on August 6th. We’re not going to hold our breath that the release date will stick, given that it’s already been bumped twice; the film was first set to be released on Valentine’s Day weekend.
The film has already been released in a number of international territories, and there is even an official soundtrack by Nick Urata of DeVotchKa. While reviews were mixed on the festival circuit, the film does seem to have some fans who’ve been lucky enough to catch it overseas. We’re definitely intrigued; we just hope we actually get a chance to see it.
