What really surprised me was reading an interview with Tilda Swinton (who co-produced and developed the film as well as starring) where she said certain key scenes were choreographed and edited to John Adams' music. So, to put it mildly, it was a rather tense couple of weeks when Swinton & Guadagnino approached Adams — who has turned down every other request from film-makers for permission to use him music — and screened a rough cut for him. They'd have been boned if he'd hated it, instead of helping negotiate clearances that were affordable for a pretty modestly budgeted European arthouse film.

I too saw this film at the SFIFF – I was blown away by it. Can't wait to see it again, can't wait to own the soundtrack.

Saw it at SFIFF in the elegant Castro theatre. It's pretentious and melodramatic and pulls it off in every way. Feels like early Bertolucci circa "The Conformist."

Saw I Am Love a few weeks back in London (think it is still on at one or two screens).
Tilda Swinton is superb as you would expect and it a beautiful and atmospheric film although it does stray a tiny bit into over indulgence at times.

"I am Love" was released in Ireland a couple of months ago, and it is melodramatic, lyrical and esoteric right down to its post credit sequence. Second only to "Enter the Void" in my personal cinematic highlights of the year so far.
