The "usual" incarnation of Ben Grimm as Jewish… lol… Ben Grimm wasn't even identified as Jewish until 2002 (some forty years after his creation, and after years of participation in Christmas specials). Just shows that such changes are made all the time.

Basically, you say the comics-book is crap, and who are those idiots who keeps on reading it so it can be still exist after more than 50 years on a non-stop publication ?
Theses readers are so stupid and tasteless ! You all know so much better ! You can make a very much better work than the artist that keep it alive since 50 years.

Re-invent the Fantastic Four ? The movie seems to take it's inspiration from the Ultimate version of the comics-book. Version that try to modernize the Fantastic Four. And thats is very far to be the most acclaim or successful comic-book ever published. Because, in trying to make them young and hip and all, they miss what makes the hearth and the soul of the characters.

There are many "Dark" comics. Fantastic Four isn't. There are many "realist" comics. Fantastic Four isn't. It's the Fantastic (as it's say in the title) adventures of a family.

I've got the feeling that many only consider the movies that have been made and never even open the comics. Read a little.

This is Stunt Casting, pure and simple. It's not about casting the right person for the role, it's about casting something that makes headlines and garners web hits when sites run it. And as long as they cast a black guy, they not only generate buzz but the entire Black Community will swallow the bait and go see it.
They don't care about making a faithful movie. They don't even care about making a GOOD movie. They care about making a buck and holding on to the character rights. Plain and simple.
It just shows how far they are willing to push things to keep the contracts in the hands of other studios and OUT of Marvel's hands. Crank out a crappy Spiderman movie, sure as long as it holds the rights! Same principle here. Crank out another crappy FF reboot so Marvel/Disney can't reclaim the rights.
Best way to say No to crap like this… DON'T GO SEE THE MOVIE.

There's this thing called adoption, in which parents can get custody of a child that they didn't give birth to – and in those instances, sometimes the child and the parent don't share the same skin tone. Either Johnny or Sue could be adopted. Simple as that. Who really gives a damn as long as the movie is good.

"Weâve had years and years of filmmakers treating comic book characters like gospel…." Actually, it's only fairly recently that people who actually read the comic books and understood the appeal of the characters began making movies that were relatively faithful; prior to that it was either a dismal b-movie or something like Burton's Batman, which is really just goth Adam West by a man who sounds insulted if you insinuate he's ever read a comic book. (Frankly, I'd be surprised if Burton's ever read an entire script, but I digress.) This author gets it completely wrong: the problem with the previous two Fox Fantastic Four movies was that they didn't get it right, and didn't understand what made the books as revolutionary and long-lasting as they are. (And there aren't many good FF stories? I won't even address that.) I'm not saying a thing about this upcoming movie, because all I know is they youthified the characters, which won't necessarily be ruinous; but it does seem indicative that their attitude is similar to the author's, and, if so, Fox will have gotten it completely wrong twice.

If you change everything, why call it the Fantastic Four? It's like Godzilla (1998); it neither looked nor acted like Godzilla, and the fans hated it. And you're right, it doesn't matter that the Torch is black (or Electro in ASM2). Me, I'm looking forward to the bio-pic of Martin Luther King Jr. as played by Jon Hamm, and Malcolm X as played by Jackie Chan. Hey, maybe the Black Panther will be in the FF flick, and Tina Fey could play him. Can't wait to see all the broadminded fans approve of that.

Why in the world does every white character in movies have to turn into a black character? It isn't racist or anything if you leave the character his/her original race. Fans grew up with a character being a certain race and have the expectations that a re-tell will stay somewhat based on the original. Somewhat is not introducing a well known character as a different race. Lemme guess Sue is actually the daughter of a rich couple who adopted a black Johhny for whatever reasons they had to make them feel like the not so rich? Gimme a break. I really get tired of seeing characters I followed as a child as a totally different race.

Don't you love it when the troll writes the article instead of being one of the people commenting. This is not a Fantastic Four movie if they make these ridiculous changes. The lack of respect for the source matter is a loathsome product of Hollywood. The Fantastic Four has never had the movie it deserves, and it isn't because the characters are the wrong age or race or sexuality. It is because it just hasn't been given the respect it deserves. I applaud the last effort for trying to get there, but they messed up Galactus. Until we get the movie we have always deserved making Fantastic Four Babies is uncalled for. But I guess if you meet any of these people you have a chance to be their friends because you gave their decisions cover on your blog.

Really ? if you change it to much why even call it the Fantastic Four, the story had at its core 3 things, (1) Family: older Reed genius leader + Sue heart of the family the one who holds the family together. (2) brother sister relationship Sue and Johnny: hothead brother . (3) Thing: serious, brooding monster with a heart of gold who is the protector of the family but torn by what he is ? Making them all the same age is dumb… change for sake change . Look at Captain America, the kept the basic story and it did very well, same with the second Hulk. Don't mess with that. Almost everything else is open ( black Jonny white Sue ? Please one or the other, why not mixed race Sue and Johnny instead ? ) Looks like this will be a flop,

Well if it doesn't matter about their origins, and who they are and whether they're related or not or how they got their powers, why not just forget about doing a movie about Marvel's 'Fantastic Four' and just do a movie about four people who get super-powers and are learning to deal with those powers…like in 'Chronicle'…but with an additional super-powered person.
