I do not understand all the love for "Holy Motors"- I was excited to see it and was very disappointed: it was basically a piece of shit with some beautiful moments attached.
"Cosmopolis" has two great performances in it (Robert Pattinson and Pail Giamatti) but was ultimately fairly boring. I thought "Twixt" was excellent, although uneven. "Faust" was another on that was beautiful to look at, but pretty boring at the same time- quite a slog to sit through."Keep the Lights On" was an oddly compelling, realistic view of a relationship, but nothing to write home about.
Where was "Oslo, August 31" from Norway? For me, the best film of the year.

Ugh, KEEP THE LIGHTS ON was an abysmal film. The entire final third of the film feels needlessly tacked on, the core relationship generates no chemistry at any time, and some of the most interesting side characters are discarded late in the narrative.

I get why people like or even love "Holy Motors" and "Cosmopolis". I found them to be at least fascinating, even though some things did not work (for me). But "Twixt" was horsepoop. Take the name Coppola (and Fanning) off the film and nobody would even care to watch it. And those who do would laugh their asses off and wonder if the director would ever get to do something more than third rate TV shows or home video market C-trash. It's that bad. And it's one of the visually ugliest films in quite a while.

Leave it to the French to come up with a very cool list of 2012 Top Ten Films. Extremely artistic slant. I can't wait to see 'Holy Motors' which is the most provocative film of the year.
