One question why should we embrace reboots. This article is proof that you have no imagination at all. Say if you are to remake back to the future I would say over my dead body It just goes to show that you no longer have any passion or love of movies. What the reboot really means is its pointless it has no meaning then your just a shell of a man. To quote Rodger Ebert There will always be those who love old movies. I meet teenagers who are astonishingly well-informed about the classics. But you are right that many moviegoers and video viewers say they do not “like” black and white films. In my opinion, they are cutting themselves off from much of the mystery and beauty of the movies. Black and white is an artistic choice, a medium that has strengths and traditions, especially in its use of light and shadow. Moviegoers of course have the right to dislike b&w, but it is not something they should be proud of. It reveals them, frankly, as cinematically illiterate. I have been described as a snob on this issue. But snobs exclude; they do not include. To exclude b&w from your choices is an admission that you have a closed mind, a limited imagination, or are lacking in taste.

"George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road begins somewhere within the events of The Road Warrior but veers off to imagine a new Mad Max story that basically abandons the continuity of Beyond Thunderdome.” –– Hold up. Why does Indiewire keep insisting Fury Road is a reboot when it\'s not? George Miller himself has said it takes place AFTER Thunderdome.

Absolutely right Connor. What\'s even more galling is that the indie scene has become just as uninspired as the studio dross. Honestly when was the last truly transcendent cinema experience? I think the last real masterpiece was mulholland drive. And that was 2001.

Its sad what Hollywood has slowly become: bland; lifeless, and hard to really see the value and magic of its content anymore. Doris is right; its all about the profit now-a-days. Executives, suits, and board members make the decisions, and the filmmakers are there to simply do the hard work, without a single say in the matter. I hope independent cinema gets stronger in the next decade. Hollywood needs some form of challenge from real filmmakers with ideas, passion, and freedom to do what they please.

Sadly the idea of retooling a franchise is almost always made by non-creatives in a boardroom. If the original filmmakers decide it\'s time to revisit a series, that\'s slightly different -- fury road being a case in point. But some weasel in a suit deciding there\'s money to be made by reheating Independence Day and selling it back to us? Unacceptable!
