I disagree with you Game of Trolls. The critic is right on. Fences is a tedious museum piece, wordy, burdened with stereotypes and self-conscious symbology and metaphor, and more a “reading” of the original stage play than a movie. It needed a re-write by a contemporary screen-writer, and a better director to make it cinematic.
