I know he\’s about 17 years younger than Depp but what about Jake Gyllenhaal for the Lone Ranger? However I do like Matt Damon too, as he actually is a \”horseman,\” Another suggestion – Keanu Reeves. Also I like someone\’s suggestion that Depp play the Ranger and someone else – Tonto – maybe Canadian native actor Adam Beach (Flags of Our Fathers and Windtalkers)

No Jane you are wrong. Johnny Depp was supposed to be in The Brothers Grimm. You need to read \” Dreams and Nightmares\” by Bob McCabe and Terry Gilliam. Depp said yes, then changed his mind.

Matt Damon was never going to work with Johnny Depp on Brothers Grimm. Depp was already off the project (had only been on a wish-list for Gilliam) before Damon got involved.

Isn\’t the Lone Ranger the great grandfather (or some such) of the Green Hornet? so clearly it can only be Seth Rogen. Of the list I like Eckhart or Hamm.

I really think Hamm is a fantastic call. Funny, charismatic, and one of the few actors in the list that seems to let Depp have top billing without necessarily being overshadow on screen.

Tonto means silly in Spanish. Which is what this whole idea is. Is there really a public craving for a Lone Ranger movie? What are they going to do, make it a dark and bad-ass Lone Ranger movie? Or is this some kind of kiddie comedy?
