Got a Tip?

Here’s The Insufferable Trailer For Ed Burns’ Indie Dramedy ‘Nice Guy Johnny’

From the opening moments of hearing newcomer Kerry Bishé in her first leading role trying to “naturally” deliver Ed Burns’ highly mannered and supposedly casual dialogue, we wanted to strangle a kitten, like, man. But the trailer for his forthcoming indie dramedy “Nice Guy Johnny” dispenses with most of the dialogue for a song that is so corny we ask please don’t bother telling us who wrote it or sings it because we may not be able to control our clenched fists if we find out.

The film follows the titular Johnny (Matt Bush, best known from “Adventureland” as the guy who repeatedly punched Jesse Eisenberg in the groin) who made a pact with his fiancé (Anna Wood) to give up on his dream of being a sports talk radio host (really? what kind of compromised mid-level ambition is that?) if by the age of 25 he can’t find a gig in the industry. Heading to New York City for an interview for a “real job” set up by his fiancé’s father, Johnny’s Uncle Terry (Burns) wants to save him from being a clock puncher and takes him on an adventure in the Hamptons where he meets Brooke (Bishé)…..and post-collegiate second guessing ensues.

As you can guess this trailer did pretty much nothing for us and the premise isn’t helping. But in case you’re somehow curious to find out if Johnny will be doing the play-by-play of the next New York Mets game (at best), the film will hit VOD on October 26th. [Quiet Earth]
