Selick's exit was necessary for the studio to be a functional creative and working environment and grow in both of those aspects. Knight's coffers mean it will be a long time before the studio has to worry about it finances (which it actually does not as the studio is profitable as a whole, despite scrapped projects and Selick leading Coraline to go quite a bit overbudget).
