If black people surviveed and prospered after Birth of a Nation (1915), they can certainly deal with this. I can understand, to some degree, the unease that some people have about this, but it is getting to be as if April Reign is a charter member of the Committee of the Self-Selected Commissars (CSSC). She passes judgment on what should or should not be produced because black people "own" slavery and some interpretation of it.

Some white creatives are so nervous that they now have to professional Negroes to provide "credentialed" cover on black subjects if they are not from a specific community.

For example, Kathryn Bigelow the director of Detroit was on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and Noah asked why she, a white woman, would do a film on a black subject matter.

She gave the standard reply about whether she was the "right person" to do it since she was a white woman, but she also said that she had Henry Louis Gates and Michael Eric Dyson on board to get the facts of the story straight.

Did they help with the research on the script? Read and approve it afterward? Now we have another branch of the CSSC that stamps and approves "white" projects on "black" subject matter.

They might as well cancel it now. Before they invest too much money in it. It's never going to get a fair shake. As others have pointed out it's not only going to get slammed by the left it's going to get slammed by the right.
