What we can guess is as much as this: Exploration team from Earth lands on alien planet. They find remains of an advanced alien civilization and technology. Something goes wrong and the explorers set something in motion which is destructive. Speculative, but not unlikely, is the scenario that one of the crew members turns out to become the `later' space jockey featured in the original Alien movie. And/or perhaps another (?) crew member might turn out to become a relative of Ripley.
