It’s too bad that it took a public event such as this to allow the MPAA to feel clear to make that kind of statement. If everyone has truly been THAT appalled all along, one looks upon their silence with suspicion. Harvey must have carried some stunning clout, I guess. Or, more likely: the industry couldn’t stop loving the awards, the attention… oh yeah, and the money… that the Weinsteins (whatever they were like) brought in.

In reply to cirkusfolk. the playlist has noted many times that it isn’t the outlet for these kind of news. i agree with you that it is movie news, but for its magnitude and repercussion on the industry, not because it involves a movie producer. and this post may be a little late, but it does prove that they are not avoiding it.

Even I knew about the Rose McGowan story a long time ago and even I knew about Harvey’s reputation a long time ago, so EVERYONE in the industry must have known. Blind eyes.
The situation he’s in makes me wonder if he’s going to do some desperate last gasp shit. I’m sure there’s something he can hold over somebody’s head or drop some gnarly stories about his collaborators.

Who were the “assistants” that enabled Weinstein’s disgusting attacks by taking the women to his hotel room and leaving them alone, or made the hotel/meeting arrangements that put women in danger? These people need to be questioned and possibly prosecuted.
